In addition, he offers portrait, catalog and event photography as well as local,one-on-one "personal training" in digital photography. Johnattended the Lepp Institute of Digital Imaging and completed training by Nikon, Epson, Adobe and others. He considers himself fortunate to have photographed with, and been mentored by, some of today's finest pro photographers including Darrell Gulin, Adam Jones, Rick Sammon, Daniel Cox, Joe & MaryAnn McDonald and many others.John's work has won numerous awards including two time winner of the Nature's Best Windland Smith Rice Award. Six of his images were recently named as semi-finalists in the 2011 Veolia Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition sponsored by the London Museum and BBC Wildlife Magazine. In addition, John's images have appeared in a number of national magazines and are currently on display in many private collections. John's work has also been featured in various galleries including a six month exhibit at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC.NEW GALLERYA new gallery, "The Masks of Venice", has recently been added to my portfolio...this magnificent Carnevale of Venice goes back in history to the 1100's when Venice celebrated victory in battle. The costumes or "masks", as they are called, were a way to foster equality since one's gender and rank in society were hidden. Outlawed for a number of years,Carnevale was reinstated in 1979 and continues to this day. The setting is breathtaking, as are the masks that are created and worn by a network of passionate people that keep the spirit of Carnevale alive. This gallery is dedicated to the masks that make Carnevale possible... Note: Some of these photographs were taken in a private photo shoot arranged at a 15th century palace.
