2009 WINNER WINDLAND SMITH RICE AWARDS
It is one of the greatest thrills of my life to have been selected from over 25,000 entries (representing some 58 countries) to be the 2009 Grand Prize Winner and Wildlife Category Winner
of the coveted Windland Smith Rice International Awards. It is particularly gratifying to know that these two images have been shared with millions of people through two of the most respected and revered venues...the beautiful imagery of Nature's Best Magazine and the grandeur of one of the most prestigious museums in the world, the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, Washington, D.C. (later followed for several months at another major exhibition, the Etat Sauvage in Montreal).
I hope that in some small way, my images, and those of the other winners, will continue the spirit and legacy of Windland ("Wendy") in helping people connect with nature and the need for conservation.
